I am a Technology Team leader with over 7 years experience of process and product development in the materials science and manufacturing sector. I have a particular interest in disruptive technologies for making processes and materials more sustainably.At Metalysis, I manage a diverse range of projects and people. Project work includes new alloy development, scale-up activities, and equipment design associated with molten salt electrolysis. I am currently leading activities for several projects within the company to develop our technology and equipment for extracting oxygen from moon rock, in collaboration with international publicly funded organisations and private space entities. I thrive in project-based work environments, supporting the technical R&D and operations team and liaising with internal and external stakeholders to deliver successful results. I particularly enjoy the crossover between design engineering and materials science to create new, innovative products and manufacturing routes.

    I was responsible for the development of new materials and processes within the metal powders department, focusing on production directly from metal oxide powders via molten salt electrolysis. This role was heavily weighted to the engineering and manufacturing side of the business, requiring both process and equipment design expertise to drive the technology forward.I was also responsible for writing proposals, project management and experimental delivery of a distinct set of projects exploring the use of the technology to extract oxygen from moon rock. This involved extensive testing of parameters at research scale and solving significant engineering challenges to develop the reactor and ancillary equipment associated with the application. More generally, this role consisted of designing, implementing and reporting of experiments at both R&D and industrial scale to create new products and scale-up processes. I was also responsible for the drafting of associated safety documents, including COSHH, standard operating procedures and risk assessments, as well as managing a team of researchers and supervising operation activities to achieve project deliverables.
