In this role I managed over 250 Cisco UCS blades running VMware 6.7. I also assisted as a backup to our NetApp storage administrator. This included all blades, chassis and fabric interconnects. Last time it was updated prior to me was in 2013.- Create new blade templates to optimize the Cisco blades and cut down on misconfigurations from previous.- Updated VMware vSphere, vCenter and SRM from 6.5 to 6.7- Fixed VMware configuration issues that were hindering SQL database servers performance- Install 25 new Cisco UCS M5 blades and reconfigure VMware clusters.Other tasks were general system administration duties for our 2500 Windows and Linux servers. -

My daily responsibilities were to ensure all of projects were on time and stayed within the defined budget. I was a technical supervisor, so I also maintained the VMware and Nimble storage environments. I also maintained the Cyber Security and Complaince of our Energy Management System.My role was split between managing the team (completing reviews and one on one meetings…etc) and determining what projects we needed to accomplish to keep AECI’s infrastructure up to modern standards. This would be vetting out new products, getting quotes and securing budget for the project.Notable Accomplishments:• Helped migrate Exchange 2010 environment to Exchange Online• Setup Azure Site Recovery to replicate on premise virtual machines to the cloud for Disaster Recovery• Virtualized the energy management system that controlled the bulk electric system. This was a big deal because we were one of the first companies to attempt this. It took many months for our compliance department to get approval from NERC our governing body. The new system replaced an old physical system made up of 57 servers. The new system could scale easily for new load and the VMware deployment was completely scripted out for consistency across all four clusters.• Migrated from EMC VNX storage to Nimble Storage. This allowed for an easier configuration and less storage administration time.• Migrated from KEMP load balancers to F5 load balancers. This was to gain more functionality out of our load balancers and allow us to have a web application firewall. -

I also managed all core networking and wireless.Notable Accomplishments:• Migrated their server environment that was running on Hyper-V and Dell Equalogic storage to VMware 5.5 running on NetApp storage. I did this to alleviate performance issues that they were having with Citrix profile load times. The new solution took load times from over 60 seconds to around 10 seconds.• Setup Riverbed WAN optimization appliances between the HQ and DR location so that I could implement VMware SRM for disaster recovery.• Migrated to Veeam Backup and Monitoring from Backup Exec and Solarwinds.• Created MPLS network for connectivity to remote locations.• Migrated Exchange 2003 environment to Exchange 2010. -
