I took early retirement from Environment Agency after over 35 years and since then have set-up TK-Coastal as a one-man consultancy. TK-Coastal offers advice on Coastal Engineering, Capital Management and Environmental matters and will work for individuals, other businesses or charities. I am a corporate member of both CIWEM and ICE and currently chairman of the ICE South Maritime Special Interest Group which arranges regular talks and site meetings and a biennial conference “Working in the Wet” (the last one in April 2012). I have helped candidates gain professional qualifications and was involved with both candidate selection and management of the Environment Agency’s foundation degree in Flood and Coastal Management. I also take part in a number of local activities, I am a volunteer at the local museum and on the committee of the “Lymington Society” – a civic society that aims to preserve the character and heritage of Lymington.

In this job I was responsible for introducing integrated Coastal Management by liaison between the Environment Agency and Maritime District Councils particularly about management of the combined Capital Programme. I was involved with various coastal engagement activities including the Coastal literacy programme run by Coastnet on the Manhood peninsular and Coastal Communities adapting to climate change (CCATCH) run by Hampshire County Council.I have spoken at various River and Costal Conferences and to local groups, particularly when they have suffered flooding, or the Agency are promoting schemes.
