• Initially took on a busy role as a Pilot before working as the Acting General manager for several months and later leading a helicopter troop.• As a Troop Leader and Pilot, managed teams of up to 30 staff supporting 2 aircraft.• Functional responsibilities included flight planning, flying operations, staff management, regulatory compliance, safety and customer service.• Personally flew all manner of sorties, including day, night, sea transit, low level flying, nape of the earth, hook and hoist, high density altitude ops, special operations, aeromedical evacuations, formation, flying in built up areas and other sorties.• Responded to emergencies on the ground and in flight, including all manner of mechanical, electronic and customer incidents.• Demonstrated an ability to remain calm under pressure and make sound decisions with limited information in circumstances where the lives of passengers depended on my judgement.• Gained exposure to working at height, in confined spaces and using a spectrum of specialist emergency equipment.• Maintained a comprehensive knowledge of emergency response procedures, aircraft operating procedures, cabin procedures, legislative requirements, airport systems and incident management policies.• Undertook dangerous goods training annually and transported all manner of cargo, including flammable and explosive goods.• Checked aircraft weight and fuel supply, reviewed cargo types, monitored dangerous and explosive ordnance and checked load restraints.• Liaised with airport staff to determine cargo management requirements.• Advised the General Manager on aviation quality assurance matters, risk management and mitigation, training standards, resource availability and human resources issues.• Stood in for the General Manager for several weeks and led a team of 100 staff operating 6 helicopters.• Worked abroad in Afghanistan under operational conditions.
