Currently producing and editing a weekly television show on the Outdoor Channel- 'Shawn Michaels' MacMillan River Adventures". It's hunting, fishing and good stories of interesting folks that love the outdoors. I do regional TV spots for a client whom I have worked with for over 20 years and their business continues to grow. In addition, I am working with a handful of old friends on corporate and cause productions. I still do some live event crew work and am open to new opportunities.I also work with Kansas City Chiefs at home games where I work in the control room writing and editing the "Red Zone" highlight packages seen on the big screens throughout the game- much fun. I work with some of the best crews in town and around the country and I can easily scale my business to meet my client's needs. I am very fortunate to work with great, long term clients. As a result, I do very little in the way of marketing- primarily word of mouth. However, I am always excited to listen to new ideas and opportunities.

Lamar Productions had a strong run of nearly 7 years thanks to a great client base and great staff. I sold the company and watched the first wave of bad banking take the new owner down- it was sad and costly.At the peak, we were a three man team that had a nice network of industry folks regionally and nationally that helped us create work for Fortune 500 companies, small businesses and all in between.We also produced a couple TV shows on national cable, wildlife programs and a few documentaries. We maintained a commitment to our service area by producing a number of works for cause-based clientele- most were charitable organizations serving disadvantaged youth.

Business owner died suddenly without a succession plan- I left to open Lamar Productions shortly before it's demise- too bad, it was a great group of people with a lot of talent and excellent tools.

A fairly typical small town TV station experience in the days before cable provided competition; do everything/anything you can and get paid to learn. I was a V/O guy, backup weatherman (NOT a meteorologist- not many were back then), camera, Chyron, audio, switcher....After four years of doing, I moved into management and it was four years before I learned I wasn't cut out for that.

While in high school, I worked two weekend shifts at a couple of the local radio stations. The stations sold and we were all unceremoniously canned- bummer. Looking back, being paid to spin records (and they were vinyl back then) was too good to be true. One station was easy listening, the other was album rock- much fun. Any of you guys still alive that worked there at the time?
