About Tim Lenk
Program Manager of the Communications Systems Division for the Pierce County Department of Emergency Management, with responsibilities for the public safety communications system and the seven Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) 9-1-1 systems in Pierce County. Have overseen the county radio shop operations since 1997, and responsible for the replacement, installation, upgrades and repairs of the counties eleven communication sites, mobiles, portables, micro wave links, repeaters, towers and new communication site construction. In 2007, the county Enhanced 9-1-1 division consolidated with the communications division, and my responsibilities expanded in overseeing the replacement, repair, and upgrades of the 9-1-1 equipment in the seven county 9-1-1 centers.I developed and am resposible for the county mobile operations program since 1999, which includes two mobile communication / command units, two mobile tower trailers and a response team. Since 1999, this program has supported hundreds of search and rescue operations, wild land fires, special police operations, and multi-jurisdictional responses providing on-scene interoperable communications.I have been involved in the FEMA Urban Search and Rescue (US&R) program since 1992, deployments include the Northridge earthquake, 9-1-1 World Trade Center, hurricane Katrina, Ernesto, Gustav and Ike as a communications unit leader (COML). I am also a National US&R Communication Workgroup member and a credentialed lead instructor for the National US&R communications specialist course.Additional responsibilities include Emergency Operations Center (EOC) manager for the county and regional Incident Management Team (IMT) COML. As an EOC manager, I am responsible for ensuring the ICS / NIMS requirement are met and mission objectives are completed. In 2008, I was the EOC manager during two Federally Declared Emergencies.
