Tim has worked extensively as a writer, director and actor in film, television, theatre and radio. He co-founded Belfast's Tinderbox Theatre Company in 1988.He was creator and lead writer of the BAFTA-nominated TEACHERS (Channel 4) with Andrew Lincoln, the format adapted by NBC (US). Other series’ include the four-part conspiracy thriller Proof with Orla Brady and Finbar Lynch (RTE1), the three-part family drama Little Devil (ITV1) with Robson Green, and he penned the six-part updating of TV classic Minder (Channel 5) starring Shane Richie. Other screenwriting includes Out of the Deep Pan (BBC2) a comedy of love and pizza in post-ceasefire Belfast, Ballykissangel (BBC1) and Reversals, a sex-swap farce with Sarah Parish and Marc Warren (ITV1), and BBC1's medical drama Casualty, TV3's cop show/soap Red Rock.More recently he wrote for Versailles season 2 and was lead writer on season 3 (Canal+). He wrote for Das Boot season 2 (Sky Germany) and for Marcella season 3 (ITV/Netflix).Stage plays include the political satires Caught Red Handed (Irish Times Best New Play and Stewart Parker Award 2002), To Be Sure in 2007 and he wrote and directed The Civilisation Game, a suburban satire in the Lyric Theatre, Belfast (2012).For BBC radio, Tim wrote the inner-city thriller The Tunnel, the post-ceasefire comedy I can see clearly, the Woman’s Hour series Ruthless, and the nightmare comedy Fit to Burst.As well as his own plays, theatre directing includes Dario Fo’s Can’t Pay? Won’t Pay! Darragh Carville’s Language Roulette, Gary Mitchell’s debut Independent Voice and Patrick Marber's Dealer’s Choice. Tim directed the short film Dance Lexie Dance which won numerous international awards and was nominated for an Academy Award in 1997.
