ISG has been born from a background of digital learning development, marine experience, and training and competence experience across multiple industries including maritime and oil and gas. Our Team has worked for and owned some of the most successful global companies involved in online learning and competence management in addition to a maritime team comprising highly experienced Masters, Chief Engineers and lecturers from world-renowned maritime colleges all over the world. Our mission is to challenge the status quo in maritime training and competence and to develop new ways of working that drive improved knowledge, skills and safety performance whilst also driving logistical efficiencies through to our customers.

Managing a maritime-focused training business, specialising in MCA and OPITO training and offering training and consultancy services in new fuels such as LNG and Hydrogen from three training sites across Glasgow. Key customers are based in UK, Europe and SE Asia. Developing a number of technological training offerings for this industry using VR and eLearning so as to create blended learning courses to address a number of safety critical areas.

Director and shareholder. Responsible for establishing the North Sea operations. Focused on learning and development services for the global oil and gas and subsea industries. Developed a range of blended learning courses addressing various HSE subjects that are now widely used across the sector. Delivered projects to Tier-1 customers on competence development and training optimisation. Developed the capability to establish a training centre for a third party from scratch, providing the consultancy, equipment and resources to deliver MCA and OPITO training.

Providing interim management and consultancy services to a range of businesses operating in the technology, training and drilling industries. Acted as an investor and consultant to three different companies that all exited successfully after achieving the planned revenue and profit targets. These companies developed world-leading solutions in: competence management; drilling simulation and well management; and blended learning to address the needs of the maritime and subsea industries. Developed the eLearning strategy for one of the major global oil and gas focused training providers. Performed feasibility studies for training companies in Kazakhstan, Malaysia and UAE to create the business cases for opening new training centres and to develop and up-skill the local workforce to meet internationally accredited training and competence standards.

Co-owner, director and shareholder, developed the business over eight years into the global industry leader in HSE and production operations eLearning with 200 key customers in 40+ countries. Personally responsible for setting-up JVs and delivering new business wins in Angola, Azerbaijan, Brazil, France, Germany, India, Kazakhstan, Libya, Malaysia, The Netherlands, Oman, Sudan, Thailand, USA, and Venezuela.Re-branded the business and saw a 20-fold increase in revenue and 25-fold increase in net profit between joining the business and exit. Exited successfully to a private equity business, having become the world-leading eLearning provider to the global oil and gas industry.

Director and shareholder. Managed the Scottish sales region comprising three locations, 25 sales staff and over 70 support staff. Successfully achieved our 2-year earn-out targets prior to exiting the business.

Director and shareholder. Delivered numerous multi-million pound contract wins with various oil and gas operating and service companies, including: BP, Elf, Shell, Mobil, Occidental, Scottish Hydro Electric, Teleco-Sonat and Wood Group. Managed the company’s oil and gas division which specialised in technical solutions for the offshore, upstream divisions of many major international oil companies.
