Best known as the first and still the only person ever to climb Mount Everest’s entire 8,874 metres from sea to summit, Tim reached the peak on 11 May 1990. Although he began the three- month expedition with a small film crew on the shores of the Bay of Bengal, he climbed alone from Base Camp—without the assistance of sherpas, fellow climbers or bottled oxygen. The documentary of this achievement, Everest: Sea to Summit, won prizes in seven countries for the best mountain film.It followed on from many earlier successful climbs including when Tim became the first Australian to climb Everest. He and a fellow climber reached the summit of Mount Everest by forging a new route up the North Face in alpine style and again without oxygen or sherpa support. The ascent—filmed by Tim—was also shown to world-wide television audiences.Tim is a professional speaker at corporate conferences, business workshops and leadership seminars. Reaching a mountain summit is the universal symbol of achievement, and the success of Tim's talks are built on mountaineering being such an accurate and simple metaphor for goal setting, navigating challenges, overcoming obstacles and executing a plan one step at a time - all principals that can be applied across many facets of our personal and business lives.Tim was co-founder of world-leading outdoor adventure brand Sea to Summit.
