Since July 2004, Tim Marshall has served as President and CEO of Arbor Bancorp and Bank of Ann Arbor, a locally owned and operated full-service community bank with seventeen locations in SE Michigan. The bank was founded in 1995 and has grown to over $3.0 billion in total assets. The trust and investment management group was formed in late 1997 and has total assets under management exceeding $2.5 billion. Combined bank and trust assets exceed $5.5 billion, an increase from approximately $500 million when Marshall joined the bank. The December 31, 2019 fiscal year end represented the ten consecutive years of record-level earnings, increasing at an average annual growth rate of 23%. The 12/31/22 earnings reflected another year of record-level earnings and growth. Earnings were strong in 2023 nearly matching the 2022 results. In addition to supporting the lending and deposit needs of our local businesses and consumers, Bank of Ann Arbor is very active in the entrepreneurial community and has built one of the premier Technology and Life Science Banking Groups in the Midwest.His banking career spans over 35 years starting at Indianapolis based American Fletcher National Bank, after graduating from Purdue University. He subsequently received his MBA from Butler University. In 1994, he moved to Indianapolis headquartered Salin Bank & Trust Co. where his management responsibilities ranged from serving as the Chief Credit Officer to managing all functional business lines as the President, Chief Operating Officer, and a Board Director of Salin. The bank enjoyed significant growth in bank and trust assets under his leadership prior to his departure in June 2004 when he joined Bank of Ann Arbor in his current role.Active in his community, Tim joined the board of the American Bankers Association in late 2023 and continues to serve on the boards of the University Musical Society, Ann Arbor Spark, Inclusivity Institute, Affordable Housing Partners, Cinnaire Investment Corp, and the Ann Arbor EDC. Tim was appointed in 2011 to the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago’s Community Depository Institution Advisory Council (CDIAC) and served as Chair from 2012-2014. In his capacity as chair, he met with the Federal Reserve Board of Governors twice a year in DC on economic and banking industry trends. He served as the chair from 2012-2015 of Ann Arbor Spark and the chair of the Michigan Bankers Association in 2016-2017. Tim is a member of the Rotary Club and has volunteered with United Way, American Red Cross, Arbor Hospice, Telling It, SOS Community Services and others.
