Hello! I am Tim Martinez, an experienced and driven devOps engineer with a background in software development, automation, and game/VR development. At Penn State University I attained a B.S. in Computer Science and built the fundamental underpinnings of my skill-set. Since graduating I've served roles in digital marketing, IT Support, full-stack web development, automation, and devOps. My current role as devOps engineer involves the configuring, deployment, monitoring, and troubleshooting of a complex micro-service architecture on the Google Cloud Platform. Using a GitOps approach for continuous deployment and having the stability of Kubernetes and GCP allows me to spend time on other things such as developing tools and automation to improve service management and debugging less obvious performance/networking issues within services. Additionally, in my spare time I serve as lead developer for a small team developing an independent game and VR solutions on Unreal Engine 4. Our team has successfully delivered a virtual reality application and are looking to complete our first full-featured multiplayer PC game very soon. I have a strong interest in educating myself with new technologies. Currently I'm expanding my knowledge of Helm Charts to see how it can be utilized for managing and deploying complex apps within a cluster. I strongly believe in cross-team and cross-discipline knowledge sharing because I believe it reduces silos and keeps us all engaged in the overall goal. Ultimately I hope to use my skills and experience to continue to do what I do best, solve problems and come up with effective solutions.
