I am Certified by the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society (HFES) as a Certified Human Factors Professional (CHFP). I have more than 40 years of experience providing my services and knowledge of Human Factors and Ergonomics to Companies, Charities and Government Agencies. I spent 11 years in the UK consulting for a wide range of companies. Especially notable was 5 years spent as the Human Factors advisor to the Swedish telecommunications giant L.M. Ericsson. I then spent 17 years at Nortel as a manager designing telephones, network products and network management user interfaces. Notably there I managed the Usability Laboratory for 3 years and set up and ran both a Displays laboratory and an Installability laboratory. At CMC Electronics Esterline I worked for 5 years on aviation and military Human Factors. The work there involved working with soldiers, sailor and airmen of the Canadian forces and for one project I worked with submariners of the UK's Royal Navy.I taught Human Factors and Ergonomics at the School of Industrial Design at Carleton University for 21 years and was an Adjunct Research Professor in two departments; in the School of Industrial Design and in the Human Oriented Technology Laboratory (HOT Lab) in the Department of Psychology.I worked for 2 years as a Senior Specialist for the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC)I have retired completely but I am still interested in discussing new ideas and volunteering to help younger students and staff to develop new skills.Specialties: Particular ability to propose and develop new product design concepts based on research and analysis and then the ability to devise, run and report on experiments and tests of these ideas to refine them.I have particular knowledge and experience of designing and selecting display and input devices (such as keyboards, mice and touch-screens)
