Responsible for product concept creation and all aspects of product development including design, manufacturing and quality control. Built world class hair science research team.Created and implemented R&D strategy focusing on thermal manipulation of hair. The strategy has resulted in the birth of four platform technologies, an extensive international Intellectual Property portfolio and a extensive pipeline of innovative products.Revolutionised hair styling with the development and introduction of tri-zone technology and recently a further upgrade in performance called "infinity zone" technology.Developed and launched other breakthrough products, including ghd Oracle - a totally new and easier way of creating curly hair. The Concept Led Design and Build (CLDB) group focused on developing royalty and license income by creating and realising new consumer product concepts .Created and rapidly grew the CLDB business unit. Led CLDB in identifying market needs and developing associated intellectual property, which has been licensed and developed in worldwide partnerships with blue chip companies. Managed provision of an end-to-end service from design and development in the UK through to manufacture in the Far East.Full P&L, strategy and sales responsibility, reported to the Group CEO. Drove the bottom line from start-up loss in 2008 to profit in 2009: CLDB beat budget by over 100% in the tough 2009 trading conditions. Substantial future royalty deals with blue chip clients in the consumer products market were also agreed.Managed geographically disparate design and technology teams within a tight budget. Sold to a broad customer base in the UK, Germany and US.

SGAI provided product development in Hong Kong and manufacturing support services on behalf of Western clients for mass-production in mainland China. Offices in UK, Hong Kong and Shanghai.Created a unique service offering within the Cambridge consultancy market and a first-of-kind in China. SGAI enabled Sagentia on behalf of clients to take innovative products from initial concept to market within 14 months.Sought and qualified suitable Chinese partners, and secured seed funding in China.Led the sales team in UK, US and Germany and developed a strategy that achieved profitability in the first year of operation followed by over 60% profit margin and rapid growth in the second year.SGAI won the inaugural Cathay Pacific Business Wings Award in 2006.Operated in markets ranging from utility metering to consumer products.
