I have been a freelance proofreader since 2012, during which time I have completed around five hundred projects for more than fifty clients: from half an hour proofreading a CV, to a year and a half copy-editing a 500-page book on ninth- and tenth-century Bohemian and Moravian jewellery. This has been alongside spending four years as an on-site proofreader and researcher at a financial services company and another four years as a full-time dad of a pre-schooler (now at school). Before all this I worked in the charity sector for twenty-three years, followed by seven years in the TEFL world, first teaching English, then recruiting and managing teachers. I have also co-translated books from Czech to English with my wife, Pavlina; seven of the books (all non-fiction) have been published. To get me away from the computer for a few hours a week, I'm delighted to join the team at Defined Wine and take some of that attention to detail I've developed and transfer it from wordsmithing to winemaking!
