Tim is HDR's Federal Principal where he leads a growing defence team, building on his over 20 years of experience as an engineer in the Australian Army. Tim's experience in Defence included leadership roles for the $3.1+ billion Garden Island Redevelopment Subprogram, $1.3 billion Armoured Fighting Vehicles Facilities Program, and the AUD$425 million Mosul Dam Remediation Program, as well as numerous other $200+ million projects. In his role at HDR, Tim is responsible for leading HDR's Federal sector in Australia. This includes leveraging HDR's interconnected global defence, science and technology exchange, to build on HDR's 30 years of design for Australian Defence. This will bring HDR's global expertise in areas including advanced capability facilities, national security facilities, aviation and maritime infrastructure so the Australian sector can operate at the cutting-edge of design to deliver some of Defence's most critical challenges. Tim enjoys mentoring and developing young engineers. He is an Adjunct Senior Lecturer at UNSW Canberra, a Fellow of Engineers Australia and Chair for Engineers Australia's College of Leadership & Management (Canberra Division).Ranked No. 3 in the 2024 World Architecture Survey of Top 100 Global Architecture Practices, HDR was also ranked No.1 in the Science & Technology market sector, and No. 6 in Engineering News-Record’s Top 500 Design Firms 2023. HDR has been delivering projects for the Department of Defence for over 30 years. They were the first practice to deliver a project under the Managing Contractor model, introduced in 1993, and were part of a design consortium that in 2004 delivered the first ever Defence Public-Private Partnership project.
