Responsible for the redesign of associated cooling, exhaust after treatment and induction system components for an updated emissions compliant powertrain within a range of new machine variants. Liaising with external suppliers, supporting internal Gated Reviews, overseeing both in-house and external endurance/durability testing as well as Engineering Sign Off. Additionally contributing to value-add Group Engineering improvement strategies such as requirements capture, maturity and management throughout the product design phase.

Working through Sub-Contract (QuEST Global) as a Lead Design Engineer within the Rolls-Royce UltraFan® Demonstrator Structures & Transmissions Civil Aerospace Business Unit. Responsible for the creation of design definition and the functional requirements compliance of a large complex fabricated core engine structural component. Reporting to the Product Development Manager and Project Chief Design Engineer. This involved leading the Design Team as well as liaising with international forging and manufacturing suppliers to ensure both component engineering compliance and delivery within challenging project timescales.

Working through Sub-Contract (QuEST Global) as an Integration Lead within the Rolls-Royce UltraFan® Demonstrator Structures & Transmissions Civil Aerospace Business Unit. Responsible for the system integration, design definition and technical compliance of the Intermediate Compressor Casing whilst working collaboratively with an international design/make casting supplier to achieve delivery of a highly innovative, complex casting. This role required travel to and from the supplier in Sweden, supporting face to face meetings/workshops and collaboration enabling delivery of the component within challenging project timescales.

Working through Sub-Contract (BELCAN) as a Sub-System Integration Engineer within the Rolls-Royce UltraFan® Demonstrator Structures & Transmissions Civil Aerospace Business Unit. Responsible for the Sub-System integration, conceptual design generation and requirements maturity of two structural Intermediate Compressor components. Reporting to the Product Development Manager and Sub-System Technical Lead, this role required an ability to create conceptual design definition whilst working with maturing requirements across a wide range of integrated systems and stakeholders.

Working through Sub-Contract (EKES) as a Design Engineer within the Rolls-Royce Combustion & Cases Civil Aerospace Business Unit.Responsible for the redesign of the Trent XWB (97k) Combustion Rear Inner Case reporting to the Senior Engineer. This role required the design of a new architecture to accommodate an increased thus rating, revised air system and High Pressure Turbine. Additionally, working closely with an international casting supplier in evaluating cast part GOM scan data and conducting virtual machining assessments in order to support engine development programme timescales.

Working through Sub-Contract (EKES) as a Design Engineer within the Structures & Transmissions Civil Aerospace Business Unit.Working alongside two Engineers responsible for the redesign of the development Trent XWB 97k (Airbus A350) Front Bearing Housing to accommodate an increased thrust rating, revised variable stator geometry and Air System. Working closely with international suppliers using advanced additive layer manufacture (ALM) for the production of the Engine Section Stator vanes.

Working through Sub-Contract (EKES) as a Design Engineer within the Structures & Transmissions Civil Aerospace Business Unit. Working alongside two Engineers responsible for the redesign of the Trent 900 Intermediate Pressure Turbine Bearing Structure to support an enhanced performance upgrade (Airbus A380), reporting to the Chief of Structures. This role involved the redesign of the bearing chamber, chamber services and sealing components for manufacture within an existing supply chain.

Working through Sub-Contract (DDC Precision Ltd) as a Design Team Lead within the JCB Power Systems Business Unit. Responsible for leading a team of three Designers working on Tier 4 and Stage 3A emissions compliant diesel IPU’s (Industrial Power Units) and Generator-Sets. Overseeing the design of associated cooling, exhaust after treatment, unit mounting and induction system components. Liaising with a number of external suppliers, supporting internal design reviews, overseeing both in-house and external endurance/durability testing as well as internal Engineering Sign Off reviews. Reporting to the Programme Manager to ensure the delivery of a robust product suitable for a variety of customer/OEM applications sold into markets outside that of JCB.

Working through Sub-Contract (AMS) as a Design Engineer within the Structures & Transmissions Civil Aerospace Business Unit. Responsible for the redesign of a number of internal gearbox and bearing chamber associated components ranging from air/oil seals to gear shrouds. Additionally, selected to support a failure investigation and subsequent component redesign (Airbus A380). Working alongside a Senior Engineer, Investigation and Safety Teams reporting directly to the Chief of Structures and Project Chief Engineer. Working closely with internal and international manufacturing suppliers on issues concerning component nonconformance.

Working within a team or four Engineers designing a new product (compact telehandler), responsible for the design, development testing and production of a fully furnished compact cab whilst reporting to the Engineering Manager and Company CEO. This role involved the design of the cab and associated systems whilst meeting both internal and external legislation and standards. Liaising with a number of international suppliers for HVAC, polymer moulded components and noise suppression systems. Additionally, involved the internal development of a loader stability system to meet new legislation requirements.
