Classical grades 1 - 8, Rockschool grades, Pop/Rock/Jazz leisure play.Anybody can learn to play the piano you just have to love music, possess a desire to learn how to play it and be willing to make lots of mistakes.Alongside my passion for education I have professional experience as a performer, published songwriter and performing arts coach alongside my job as a high school teacher.Tutoring Experience:I have delivered piano and musical theory tuition for 17 years. Alongside this private tuition I ran a council funded performing arts academy for 4 years before moving into the high school class room where I have been for the last 11 years.Tutoring Approach:First and foremost we have to enjoy the challenge of learning a musical instrument. My lessons are challenging but always within the context of developing a joy for the journey.Secondly, we don't learn if we don't make mistakes, the key is learning how to learn from these mistakes. I establish a safe platform from which students can begin their journey to the boundaries of their comfort zones and then beyond. Students will spend the vast majority of their learning in their own at home with their own piano and so it is vital that they are given the skills to develop and ultimately coach themselves. This is an inherent part of my approach in all lessons
