I have worked in engineering, IT technical support and IT technical consultancy for almost fifteen years. My knowledge of thermal fluid, hot oil and heat transfer process applications includes troubleshooting system and fluid issues on-site and remotely and health and safety regulatory compliance. Since 2009 I have specified and deployed business improvement IT solutions and worked in thermal fluid / hot oil process applications in some of Europe’s largest manufacturing facilities. In addition to R&D engineering and thermal fluid project work I deliver on-site training to engineering teams, health and safety professionals and operations personnel. The training I deliver helps engineers proactively manage thermal fluid and heat transfer systems to improve overall process manufacturing efficiency and safety and reduce system downtime and environmental impact.My knowledge of heat transfer applications covers a range of sectors including; food and beverage, pharmaceutical, chemical, biofuels, oil and gas, asphalt, renewables, plastics, polymers, wood, metal finishing, composite materials and industrial manufacturing.I am also co-inventor of the company’s thermal fluid remote condition monitoring system and this invention is protected by European Patent Application No. 20842020.8 and US Patent Application No. 17/770808. All rights reserved. The invention is a system for measuring the condition of a heat transfer fluid. It is a predictive remote monitoring solution for manufacturing applications using heat transfer fluid. It securely connects fluid data to the cloud and sends an instant alert to site engineers and management personnel, on any smart device, whenever a sudden change occurs which could affect productivity. Further to the mention of training above I train a range of site personnel who use thermal fluid / hot oil in heat transfer process manufacturing facilities. I work with engineers, H&S managers and operations managers to improve their knowledge in system management, process optimisation, risk management and health safety.I work with an in-house team of engineers to deliver a range of proactive maintenance interventions to improve process manufacturing site performance. The interventions I undertake include thermal fluid dilution, thermal fluid replacement, flashpoint management, system flush and system modification.I visit customer sites and draw representative hot oil samples (up to 345°) in preparation for lab analysis in line with ASTM standards. I also I perform DSEAR compliance surveys to help companies with DSEAR directives.
