In this role, I support the development and implementation of organizational strategy, serve as a one-man accelerator of innovative programming, cultivating and promoting our thought leadership, and contributing to organizational leadership.Right now, I lead internal coordination of our innovative efforts to support refugee resettlement in southern Vermont. Firstly, in coordination with the Ethiopian Community Development Council (ECDC), we house refugees temporarily on the campus of the School of International Training, and secondly, we offer refugees English language learning and cultural orientation courses through the New Vermonter Education Program.

Working with the CEO and senior leadership team, I will be taking forward World Learning and the School of International Training's important efforts on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). These will include recruiting a Chief DEI Officer, advising the CEO, senior management, and HR team on DEI matters, developing and advancing a strategic framework for DEI, standing up an organization-wide DEI Committee of faculty and staff, and developing DEI-focused training plans and opportunities for management, faculty, and staff.As a global organization, World Learning is building a better future for all people through education, development, and exchange programs. World Learning works with individuals, communities, and institutions to find comprehensive solutions to some of the world’s most pressing challenges, such as poverty, conflict, and inequality. The Truman Project brings together Americans rethinking national security. Its mission is to unite and equip a diverse community of American leaders to produce timely, innovative, and principled solutions to complex national security challenges. I was selected to join the DC Chapter of a nationwide community of 2,000+ veterans, policymakers, and national security experts dedicated to smart, principled national security solutions. Part of a diverse class of 150 fellows working across academia, policy, politics, business, and civil society.Within the Truman Project, I am leading/coordinating an affinity group focused on public and cultural diplomacy.

The Transatlantic Policy Center at American University, a Jean Monnet Center of Excellence, is dedicated to studying and promoting a greater understanding of the crucial partnership between Europe and the United States.As an Affiliate of the Center, I advise the Co-Directors, Profs. Michelle Egan and Garret Martin on the Center’s strategy and programming, as well as on relevant transatlantic policy developments. I occasionally write short thought-pieces on EU-US relations and engage with students, faculty, and administrators on various topics in transatlantic relations and strategies for effective academic cooperation with European universities.

Joined a small, woman-owned tax and accounting firm at the start of the COVID pandemic. I drafted individual, non-profit, business, and trust income tax returns (federal and state) for nearly 400 active clients and kept accounting books for several clients, including a real estate investment firm and a consulting company.

I managed a multi-million euro portfolio of programs (~EUR 20 million of grants and contracts over 4.5 years) in support of the European Union's policy, outreach, and public diplomacy agenda in the United States. I advised the EU Delegation, European Commission, and European External Action Service on the development and implementation of bilateral, regional, and global projects under the Service for Foreign Policy Instruments. I managed the work of contractors and beneficiaries, coordinating their efforts with relevant policy colleagues in the EU institutions.I developed expertise across the EU-US policy agenda, a network of officials and stakeholders on both sides of the Atlantic, as well as experience managing public diplomacy, communications, and exchange initiatives.Below are a number of links to programs and projects I managed, including a PDF with a full list.

Working part-time, I managed the Bridging Voices grants program on behalf of the British Council. Funded with a $450,000 grant from the Henry Luce Foundation, Bridging Voices supported transatlantic academic and policy dialogues on a range of issues at the intersection of religion and international affairs. I administered the grants themselves, managed the application process, led on relationships with grantees, and advised grantees on any number of issues related to their programming. Beyond the continuing work of the Our Shared Future project, I also contributed to the work of the British Council's Global Partnerships team. I assisted the team with the development of project proposals to foundations, corporations, and US-based NGOs and international organizations. When required, I also advised on the legal arrangements of an emerging partnership, e.g. with an American university.

My responsibilities with the Our Shared Future project increased with this new position. I became responsible for managing the project budget and provide more input into strategic aspects of the project. I helped develop the content for and executed several activities from start to finish, including the following:- 3-day international conference at Cambridge University for more than 60 people- series of lecture and outreach tours for OSF network members across the USA and Europe- panel discussion and lecture tours at Johns Hopkins University in cooperation with EU National Institutes for Culture and the EU Delegation to the USA- 3 panels at the Middle East Studies Association 2012 conference in Denver- $325K grants program on world history teaching and learning ("Our Shared Past") together with the Social Science Research Council

I was responsible for coordinating all events and activities under the Our Shared Future project (www.oursharedfuture.org/) under the guidance of the Project Manager, Emmanuel Kattan. Co-created and co-funded with the Carnegie Corporation of New York, Our Shared Future aims to improve the public conversation in the US and Europe on Islam, Muslims, and intercultural relations. We've developed a transatlantic network of 300+ scholars, experts, and civil society leaders to support the work of the initiative through public outreach, whether by disseminating credible and well-researched facts and narratives in the media or through public lectures and panels.My duties included organizing an international conference for over 50 people at Georgetown University in partnership with the Alwaleed Center for Muslim-Christian Understanding.

I provided administrative, visit, finance, and event support across the British Council’s American network of offices in Washington, New York, and Los Angeles. These tasks included arranging meetings, developing programs for visiting senior colleagues, helping colleagues with internal finance and procurement processes, and supporting events at the British Ambassador's Residence and across Washington.I also often represented the British Council and the United Kingdom at meetings of the cultural counselors from European Union member states and coordinated our contribution to common European cultural activities. In addition, I assisted with two educational exchange projects, Rivers of the World and World Olympic Dreams, which linked primary and secondary schools in the US and the UK.

I was responsible for maintaining all paperwork student files for the Graduate School of Arts and Science. I assisted in the transition from more than 5,000 hard copy files to a secure online database of student information. After the transition, I was responsible for scanning and filing all student information and forms for the database.In addition, I assisted the Registrar with all paperwork for the awarding of all Masters degrees and PhDs, including the submission and processing of over 200 dissertations per term.
