He managed extensive tax studies and coordinated worldwide tax services for large multi-national clients with operations throughout the world. His responsibilities included research and planning for acquisitions and divestitures; worldwide tax reduction projects, financing, licensing and fee structuring; review of financial instruments; managing and defending audits; filing ruling requests (domestic and foreign); holding company structuring; cash repatriation planning; foreign tax credit maximization; and tax compliance management. As the leader of the Rocky Mountain International Tax Group for Deloitte & Touche, he hired and trained numerous staff with the goal of increasing their technical skills and management capabilities and founded the firm’s International Tax Client Service Matrix (ITCSM) group which brainstormed, developed, packaged and promoted both on-off ideas and systematic approaches to international tax planning. His practice focused on international tax and mergers and acquisitions planning with heavy emphasis on sub-c and partnership provisions.
