• Development of guidance to LAs on options for maximising electricity revenue
• Preparation of guidance to LAs/consultants on business case production
• Technical support to heat policy team on various issues including deep geothermal, building regulations and NCM (SAP), ECO and planning
• Technical/commercial support to design of HNIP (specifically design of the funding programme looking at different funding mechanisms (grants, loans, guarantees, equity, etc.) and guidance to applicants on scenarios, etc.

I was on secondment at DECC part-time for 18 months working in the Heat Network Delivery Unit providing support to Local Authorities implementing heat network projects including inputting to the HNIP pilot

Technical/commercial advisor across WCC's energy portfolio including housing and operational portfolios. Role covered energy purchase and sales (including heat and power), support to planning department in policy development and implementation, compliance issues around CRC, HNM&B Regulations, EPBD, EUETS and others. Project manager on £15m heat network.

• My role at WCC has included:
• Developing energy and carbon strategies for the borough including contributing to revising planning policies
• Managing a project to potentially link 2 large district heating schemes in Whitehall/Pimlico and to review the future structure of the council’s existing district heating operations
• Energy strategies for a number of the council's large scale regeneration schemes with a focus on district heating.
• Managing a joint GLA/WCC project in Queens Park, one of the most deprived parts of the UK, to pilot an area based approach to retrofitting housing.
• Working with the council’s ALMO to access CESP, CERT, RHPP and other funding (>£1m in 3yr period)

Built up Entec's energy in buildings and sustainable construction work from £50k pa to £250k pa in space of 2 years with project wins working with the Carbon Trust, Energy Saving Trust, Regional Development Authorities, Housing Associations, housebuilders, English Partnerships/HCA and government departments including contributing to Entec's successful.

• Evaluation of energy policies and programmes in the built environment looking at social, environmental and economic impacts. My role included planning, designing and managing evaluation projects; modelling and.

• Regulatory Impact Assessment of Article 8 of EPBD for Defra

• I had a wide ranging brief including:
• Building services systems design from initial conceptualisation to overseeing installation – CAD drawing, specification writing, equipment selection
• Formulating energy strategies for buildings and examining / predicting energy consumption
• Feasibility studies of building services including ‘green‘ and alternative systems
• Producing ‘Photovoltaics in Buildings’ a DTI best practice handbook for using solar electric panels in buildings.
