 Founding employee Quantum Bridge Communications on staff from inception. G-PON/XGS-PON software feature development for OB-BAA-based Optical Line Terminal (OLT). Application of Vector Packet Processing (VPP) technology to create virtualized Cable Modem Termination System (CMTS) proof-of-concept from existing CMTS. MPEG video recording (DVR), storage and transport, including a next-generation video storage prototype utilizing customized Ceph exabyte-scalable storage subsystem. Software team member implementing next-generation, Converged Cable Access Platform (CCAP) CMTS. Embedded Linux applications and device drivers, and Cavium Simple Exec application in support of multi-core based CMTS 20 Gbps line card, including porting and integration of third-party application software. Software architect responsible for AXS2200 OLT and Optical Network Terminal (ONT) architecture definition and high-level design. Software development responsibilities: design, implementation and unit test for OLT fault management, state management, equipment management, protection switching, low-level error logging, and chassis software upgrade. Device driver development for Non-Volatile Memory devices, custom status/control CPLD and FPGA devices, I2C devices (Real-time Clock, EEPROM, and I/O Expander), SPI devices (Broadcom Ethernet Switch). Board Support Package (BSP) Development and board bring-up for MPC860- and MIPS-based designs. Ported and adapted OLT architecture and design to first product of ONT product line. This architecture has been utilized in more than a dozen different ONT products and roughly twenty different platforms. Supported areas of fault management, state management, equipment management and error logging for ONT products. Management responsibility (2006-2011) for a team of as many as fifteen direct and contract software engineers. Software manager (2009-2010) for ONT optical subsystem cost reduction, Linux port and development of several ONTs.

 Designed, implemented, tested and documented API test suite for MPEG2 set-top box based on customer requirements documentation. Designed, implemented and tested FPGA/ASIC tools for verifying SONET OC-192 framer. Developed a diagnostics application for a terabit router utilizing client’s I2C control plane, bit error rate testing CPLDs, motor controls and WinNT-hosted diagnostic interface.

 Member of the three person team the development responsible for the Safenet SafeXcel-2141 Security Processor. Implemented key management, ported Diffie-Hellman key exchange, RC-4 cypher and message digest algorithms, SHA-1 and MD-5, for embedded ROM. Responsibilities include detailed design documentation, implementation and unit test. Implemented bank switching build-time tools and run-time code to bank switch 1x64KB common and 3x64KB memory banks.
