I taught history for eleven years and served as a guidance counselor for eleven years for grades 7-9 in the Davenport Community School District. I then accepted a postion as an administrator in Davenport and served for fifteen years. During my time as an administrator I served served on many committees including; staff development, negotiations, pay performance, mentoring, staff evaluation, testing and evaluation, curriculum, insurance and co-chaired NCA accrediation and FINE committees.During my time as a teacher and counselor I was involved in the teacher organization (Davenport Education Association) who represented the 1500 plus teachers in the system. I served in many capacities including president of the organization and on the executive board, bargaining and governmental affairs committees. I also served on the state organization (Iowa State Education Association) executive board and political action and govermental affairs committees. I also served as one of two representatives for the First Congressional District in Iowa for the National Education Association who contacted and met with members of Congress to discuss education issues as they related to teachers and students back in Iowa.Specialties: Communication and dealing with education issues as they relate to students, teachers, parents and school districts. My 37 years of working with students, teachers, and the community as a teacher, counselor and administrator has given me a great knowledge base to share with others.
