Developing a research project assessing the impact of individual differences in behaviour (personality) on the welfare response of wild animals being held in captivity. This has involved developing and carrying out a pilot study assessing methods to effectively measure affective state through cognitive biases in wild wood mice (Apodemus sylvaticus).

Provided part time sabbatical cover for a colleague at the School of Animal rural and Environmental Sciences. Involved lecturing on and aspects of course leadership for the MSc Endangered Species Recovery and Conservation. In addition performing various administrative duties to assist with preparation for the schools REF submission.

Lecturing in a range of subjects including population dynamics, research methods and data analysis, animal behaviour, the use of the R statistical package. Supervising undergraduate and postgraduate research projects. Assisting colleagues and students with statistical analyses of data.

Worked with the eLearning team to help with the update of the Virtual Learning Environment at NTU. Involved teaching staff and students IT skills and emergency support.

Worked with Prof Stephen Lea to carry out a study in association with a local airline investigating Pilot Error and checklist use on commercial flights. The project involved collecting data with the aim of identifying current areas of vulnerability and providing practical advice to the airline to help improve checklist use.

Worked with Dr Natalie Hempel de Ibarra investigating learning through different sensory modalities in the Honeybee (Apis mellifera), particularly focused on compensatory effects when one sense is removed or compromised. Study involved the collection and handling of honeybees, preparation and carrying out of conditioning of the Proboscis Extension Response.
