Tim Thelen is Assistant General Counsel of GlaxoSmithKline, one of the world’s leading research-based pharmaceutical companies. He holds a diverse range of counseling and litigation roles for GlaxoSmithKline, in areas including commercial contracting, products liability, intellectual property, supply/quality, vaccines, biopharma, government investigations, public policy and antitrust. Thelen joined the company in 1995 and focuses on leading GSK’s litigation teams in its most complex and important disputes, on preventing litigation from arising, and on developing initiatives to decrease costs and increase efficiency in discovery. Before GSK, Thelen was a commercial litigation, antitrust and products liability attorney with Womble Carlyle Sandridge & Rice. His undergraduate and law degrees are from the University of Notre Dame. He is a past chair of the Pharmaceutical and Device Subcommittee of the ABA’s Products Liability Committee, and is a qualified mediator under the North Carolina Courts’ ADR program. He currently serves as a Commissioner on the US HHS Advisory Commission on Childhood Vaccines.
