After graduating at the University of Rotterdam I started working at MMID, a design agency located in Delft, the Netherlands. Starting as a Junior Designer Producibility my focus within the different project-teams was the technical part of the design. I became responsible for turning functional, good looking concepts into a product that can be produced within estimated costs, is easy to assemble and maintains its intended function and looks. Both through building up experience, as well as personal development outside of the projects, I developed myself from a junior to a medior designer within 2 years. My main tasks are the same, but the level is higher and responsibilities have increased. Despite being a Designer Producibility, my role within the different projects is shifting more towards the beginning of the design process. This means I'm working more on a conceptual level, and less on the final detailing for production.

For the Minotto project I have helped Hans Teijgeler, entrepreneur and car-enthusiast, chasing his dream of designing and building his own race car, combining modern technique with a design inspired by Italian race-cars from the 1950's.Since the beginning of the project I was involved with developing the design and engineering. I started with illustrating the first ideas. After this the need for a driving prototype was clear. We started detailing the design so a driving prototype could be built. My responsibility was to translate the ideas from paper into the computer. At this moment the first Minotto is being finished. Once the first Minotto is finished the goal is to start building a small series and sell these to customers worldwide.

My graduation project for Industrial product engineering consisted of the development of a handheld device to determine the humidity of the human skin, in order to advise the customer what skincare product to buy. The project started with an existing technique to measure the humidity. My task was to research different functional solutions, and come up with a design that gives the user and customer a feeling of trust. After the research phase I further developed the product up to a level were functional prototypes could be ordered.

In my fourth year of higher professional education I was peer coach during 3D CAD lessons for 2nd year students. I gave advice to the students on how to perform their assignments and was a direct contact for questions.

During my internship at MMID I was part of the design-team. I used this internship to get a better feel of what it is like to be a product designer/engineer at a design agency. I worked in different project teams and worked on different assignments, both focussing on engineering as well as design.
