* I conduct facility surveys and inspections of the Fleet's activities to ensure compliance with safety and health regulations required by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), applicable state regulations, as well as the Department of Transportation (DOT), and Maritime Administration (MARAD). I must evaluate and make recommendations on corrective actions and conduct follow-up inspections. I audit fleet operating procedures using OSHA's 18001 and ISO 14001 management standards while making appropriate corrections as needed. I also, develop, prepare and/or conduct occupational safety and health training sessions, orientations, and presentations for Fleet personnel and visitors. Have provided technical assistance in the formulation and modification of required programs including Fire Fighting, Spill Response and Reporting, Environmental Management System, Confined Space Entry, Lockout/Tag out, evacuation on a routine basis.Policies and programs for which I have knowledge and is responsible for, will include a variety of areas, e.g., accident, injury and illness investigation; reporting and analysis; accident prevention and loss control; safety education, training and promotion; occupational safety and health standards; personal protective equipment and hazard exposure control; motor vehicle and materials handling safety, hazardous materials handling and controls. Purchase all safety equipment needed for the facility along with making sure all existing equipment is inspected and in good working order.

*Maintain high voltage installations; along with fleet and Facilities electrical components at the James River Reserve Fleet. Maintain components on 13.2 KVA Visi Vac Vacuum switches, 480 VAC distribution panels, and 120/240v power panels. I provided technical input and advise others on shipboard maintenance, purchasing, policies and equipment. Adheres to detailed work plans and assignment and assures that project schedules are a priority on a daily basis, working with other trades and building long term work schedules. Instruct others in same grade or below on installation and maintenance of electrical equipment and shipboard projects. Have worked aboard vessels in the NDRF contributing to the Deck and Hull Maintenance Program and MARAD's Storm Water Pollution Prevention Program (SWPPP). Have responded to emergency situations and unanticipated problems that have occurred at the JRRF. Perform internal audits in safety and environmental management systems and maintaining Best Management Practices (BMPs) to insure that programs are running correctly and efficiently. Qualified and HAZWOPER trained to insure containment of any environmental spill or emergency.

*Supervising the installation of high voltage electrical components, specializing in High voltage cable splices and connections on the DDG 1000. Developed training curriculum for high voltage cable terminations of 4160 volts and safety arc flash awareness. Responsible for the coordination and documentation of cable testing including electrical insulation tests (Megger), hi-pot tests and resistance testing. Developed guidelines to insure installation was compliant with government standards. Performed investigations and reports for workplace injuries. Learn theories and techniques on problem solving and finding different approaches or methods, in order to increase efficiency, using Lean Sigma Six problem solving techniques. Completed work schedules on a daily basis and assigned workers specific tasks to assure project is completed on time and under budget. Reassigned employees to different projects according to work load and unanticipated priorities. Worked hand in hand with supervisors of welding, rigging, pipe fitting, preservation, and material handling to assure that schedules are met and coordinate installation of equipment. Handled estimating residential and commercial projects, kept company finances using Quick Books Pro, purchased and installed electrical equipment for everyday operations. Performed electrical inspections and testing of the electrical installations of my employees. Developed lock out tag out programs along with company wide construction safety rules and regulations. Reviewed each project and investigated into issues of low productivity, excessive costs and personnel conflicts. Maintained and installed power distribution switches, cables and transformers rated at 12,470 v, 480/277 v, and 208/120 v.
