My intellectual property experience includes U.S. and international patent portfolio management, developing freedom to practice strategies, conducting investor and company side due diligence, and preparing non-infringement, invalidity, and patentability opinions. My focus is always with an eye toward using intellectual property to increase value for clients. My practice centers around developing and procuring national and worldwide patent portfolios that extend the value of developing technology. I work closely with attorneys in the patent litigation practice to develop portfolios capable of withstanding litigation, and with the firm's FDA practice to correlate patent and regulatory exclusivities. In the energy and cleantech sectors, I develop patent portfolios in an often rapidly evolving commercial environment. I craft patent strategies that protect key innovations in fast moving and complex markets, and coordinates with the firm's Energy and Utilities team to assess and facilitate regulatory compliance of technology. In the instrumentation and consumer products sectors, I develop instrumentation patent portfolios with an eye on protecting commercial use.
