I help my clients solve problems involving trademark disputes, and help them protect, acquire, and maintain their trademark and patent rights. Protecting those trademark and patent rights involves learning about the client's business, its branding strategy, its inventions, and seeking the right mix of rights in a federal trademark registration or patent. Filing trademark applications and patent applications is a starting point. Persuading the US Patent and Trademark Office to allow those rights -- by overcoming office actions -- is another key part of that process. I also help clients manage and maintain those valuable rights. The trademark dispute work often involves demand letters to those violating the client's rights, or opposing trademark registrations that might do so. This work involves coordinating with the client on strategy, seeking the client's desired resolution, taking and defending depositions, preparing and responding to motions, and conducting discovery.
