I teach an intensive, 300-level online media class to 20 sophomore, junior and senior journalism students. We cover Web literacy, blogging, social media, photo, audio, video, HTML, Web design and Web publishing. Don't let the "online" fool you — this class meets in person two nights a week.

Updated indexes and coordinated content for Metromix Phoenix as part of an azcentral.com entertainment team that covered nightlife, music, movies, dining and events for the Phoenix metro area.

My team produced the MLive.com homepage as well as all inside indexes. I served as liaison for The Ann Arbor News, The Bay City Times and Kalamazoo Gazette, developing special projects and streamlining the papers' online production. I also hosted a weekly movies podcast and wrote a video games blog with daily page views that numbered in the thousands.

Recruited, set up and trained both readers and newspaper staff as bloggers in community, news, sports, entertainment and politics categories. Collaborated with The Arizona Republic on new online ventures. Wrote a blog and maintained My Mesa, an interactive community Web site I helped envision for Mesa, Arizona. Single-handedly ran the Web site on Sundays.

Wrote, edited and defended unsigned editorials; edited staff, freelance and wire columns; managed and coached a staff of 14 developing columnists, many with little or no experience; spearheaded convergence projects with the Web site and television station.Edited Arizona State sports stories as well as wire stories; compiled box scores; wrote sports.
