In my role as Managing Director at Standard Practice (www.standardpractice.com) I have had the opportunity to work with clinic/business owners and managers all around Australia helping them to implement the Standard Practice™ Policy & Procedures management software.This rewarding and instructive process has provided me with real insight into these business sectors (particularly healthcare, veterinary and dental) as well as helping drive our product development based on ‘real-world’ requirements.My spouse (Csilla) and I have also established a small independent publishing business (Icon Publishing) initially to publish Csilla’s first book, Love Learn Live (www.lovelearnlive.com.au). Through Icon Publishing we are about to release another book, Martial Reflections, written by Mr David Dangerfield, Head Instructor at Kenshinryu School of Traditional Martial Arts (www.kenshin.com.au) and CEO of Compass Institution Inc (www.compassinc.org.au), a Sunshine Coast based charity dedicated to providing real futures for young Queenslanders with a disability.At a personal level, I endeavour to treat each day as special and achieve the much-maligned “balance” in life across family, business, health and well-being. My role as both a student and a senior instructor at the Kenshinryu involves regular training and instructing and helps form part of that ‘balance’, while ensuring that I am away from the desk and keeping fit (which can be a challenge for those of us with sedentary careers).A beachside lifestyle that has allowed Csilla and I to raise our family and really know our children as they have grown has been, and continues to be, paramount to us, and we have built business models that afford this from both a financial and functional perspective.My intent is to see Standard Practice continue to evolve into an international organisation helping businesses to more readily operate in a ‘standards-based’ way and to, as our tag line suggests, achieve “excellence every day”.
