• Development of distribution and product strategies for Sanlam Cobalt, Sanlam’s division focusing on self-employed clients. This includes identification of new markets and formulation of viable business models to service them.• Implementation of these strategies which included business case development, sourcing and development of product both from within the company and external providers (including reinsurers), client research, intermediary liaison and oversight of system development.• Product development responsibilities included a focus on death and disability products with large cover amounts – particularly for business assurance needs.• Input into the development of the Sanlam strategy for the self-employed market, as well as the broader Sanlam Strategy.• Liaison with business partners and further development of partnership opportunities.• Membership of task-team focused on Government's Retirement Reform Process.• Other special task-teams focusing on new markets.

• Development of complex business cases and business models for new initiatives; including a new initiative called SanlamConnect - (www.sanlamconnect.co.za) which was a revolutionary offering aimed at simplifying and standardizing advice and purchasing models for the middle market. A sophisticated online portal combined with a footprint of retail shops and worksite consultants use the system to guide clients through a standardised process for initial and ongoing advice, with the ability to seamlessly purchase directly through the system.• Assisted with the development of a suite of products for SanlamConnect including retirement, savings and risk. The risk products included death and disability lumpsum, disability income and a ground-breaking innovative death income product. My work here included assistance with the detailed benefit design, ensuring that the cost allocation methodology aligned with the business case and development of a remuneration structure for the sale of the products.• Implementation of elements of above mentioned initiatives. This included ownership of elements of system implementation, assisting with appointments and training of workforce, development of marketing strategies and liaison with third party providers.• Input into development of long-term strategy for Sanlam Personal Finance. Activities included involvement in market research, industry research (local and foreign) and strategy workshops.
