I started my first business, the Online Trading Expo, while I was a full-time police officer with the LAPD. It was the first tradeshow and conference for online investing and trading. I sold the company to The Money Show a few years ago and launched After Offers with my co-founder and brother in 2016.Prior to selling my trade show company, I was a full-time police officer for eight years, working everything from the Gang unit, Vice and fugitive apprehension. One Christmas Eve, while dropping off my 6-month-old daughter and wife with her family and heading to work (bad guys don't believe in Santa), I thought, "Enough" and decided to dedicate myself to the company that I had been running on the side for several years. I was two months away from making detective rank, with a wife in graduate school and a baby. I loved being a cop, but the allure of working for myself was too strong. 6 months later I was out.Well, sort of. I was still a Police Officer (Reserve) with the LAPD and worked once week for a dollar a year. Weirdly, the 12-hour shift was an enjoyable break from running my own company.
