About Tim Clijmans
Tim Clijmans (°1981) obtained a Master of Engineering from the University of Leuven in 2004, including a specialization in Biomedical Engineering. He obtained an IWT-scholarship and started his PhD at the University of Leuven. Simultaneously, he completed a specialization in CAD/CAM from the University of Twente, a post-graduate of Business Studies from the Leuven School of Business and Economics, and a Master of Medical Imaging at the University of Leuven. In 2011, he obtained a Master of Corporate Law at the University of Brussels and in 2022, he completed an Executive Master Class Corporate Finance at Vlerick. Early-stage he was elected one of the Flemish Young High-Potentials by the Vacature company and the Vlerick Business School and named laureate of the GlaxoSmithKline Oral Healthcare price. He has been jury member of the Bizidee Flemish business plan contest for 3 years. During university studies, he decided to start a medical-technical consultancy company together with his colleague PhD student, Frederik Gelaude. In October 2008, together again, they started Mobelife NV, active in the field of custom orthopedics. Mobelife’s highly specialized team developed patient-specific bone and joint implant solutions, individually evaluated and precisely documented. In 7 years, the company grew into a team of 35, being active in 14 countries worldwide. Early 2015, Mobelife was fully acquired by early investor Materialise. For another year, Tim combined his position as CEO of Mobelife with the responsibility as Director Global Clinical Direct Sales at Materialise. He was member of several internal and external Boards. Early 2016, he co-founded OrthoGrow, initially an advisory firm in the orthopedic medical device industry. Meanwhile, the OrthoGrow group expanded via subsidiaries OrthoGrow Distribution and DEO into medical device sales and software development. From the non-medical advisory services GrowForce, a digital growth marketing agency, was created as a spin-off, which was acquired in 2021 by Upthrust. Meanwhile, DEO realized several successful funding rounds and a partnership with Johnson&Johnson. In parallel he co-founded BuildEye, advised start-up moveUp and built a diverse investment portfolio via TC Invest & Consulting. For several years now he is also FWO PhD jury member. He currently is acting CFO within multiple entrepreneurial initiatives. Lately, in 2022, he was elected Most Innovative Healthcare CFO Europe at the Global CFO Excellence Awards by Acquisition International Magazine (UK).
