After graduating from Bradley University in 2013, I obtained employment at my former high school Rock Island High School. I am in currently in my eighth year at Rock Island and am teaching AP Statistics and Honors Geometry. Additionally this year, I continue my role as the Instructional Leader for the Mathematics department and will be leading a team of 11 teachers. In 2018, I received my Masters in Teacher Leadership through the American College of Education. This program offers me the ability to learn about Shared Leadership, Professional Learning Communities, advocacy for all students, and how to use data to drive instruction. I will graduate in July with my M.Ed in Teacher Leadership. Through professional development I have learned many great teaching techniques. I am currently on the AVID committee at Rock Island, which takes middle-of-the-pack students and places them in honors courses with the proper support. I am currently also on the Building Leadership Team and on the AP committee. I have attended summer institutes for both AP and AVID. With teaching, I also have a passion for coaching. For the past eight years, I have coached in the Rock Island High School Football program. I have coached many positions from Varsity Running Backs Coach to Freshman defense coordinator. Next year, I will continue my role as the Sophomore Offense Coordinator and Varsity Running Backs Coach. Also, I have coached in the Rock Island baseball program for the past six years. As I grow as a teacher, I look forward to learning new techniques to better my classroom skills in order to help all students succeed in the future.
