I am a postdoctoral research in the Siegel Lab at UC-Davis. I am using and developing computational methods, primarily within Rosetta, to engineer enzymes for desired functions.

I was a member of both the Ondrechen and Beuning laboratories at Northeastern. My work encompasses both computational and experimental work related to enzymes.During my graduate research I worked on a variety of projects, including active site prediction of natural enzymes, enzyme engineering of both natural and de novo designed enzymes, and medicinal chemistry projects. I learned a variety of both experimental and computational techniques during this time period. I used the Schrodinger software suite extensively to perform protein minimization, ligand optimization, ligand docking, induced fit docking, residue scanning, and others. I also utilized other software including YASARA, FoldX, and MOE. During this time I developed computational skills outside of chemistry, including working in a linux environment and on a high-performance computing cluster. I utilized the SLURM scheduler on the cluster and used bash scripting to perform a variety of tasks, including the automation and parallelization of our functional residue prediction method. Outside of the research realm, I was able to be a mentor for a variety of students. This involved the training and teaching of different techniques, both experimental and computational, and overseeing their progress on different projects. I was happy that undergraduates who I worked with were able to be authors on multiple publications. I was also able to serve as an REU mentor one summer for an undergraduate from another university. Before this period, I was able to receive mentorship training to better learn mentoring techniques and how to have a more successful mentorship.

I have been a teaching assistant for both General Chemistry II and General Chemistry for Engineers classes.
