The Federal Telecommunications Infrastructure (FTI) is the primary means for FAA's telecommunications services and it forms the basic infrastructure for the Next Generation Air Transportation System, or NextGen. It replaces FAA's legacy networks to provide consolidated telecom services for the 5,000 facilities and 30,000 circuits in the National Airspace System with reduced costs and improved bandwidth and security. The FTI network supports National Airspace System (NAS) operations by providing the connectivity required by systems including the Enhanced Traffic management Systems (ETMS), the Standard Terminal Automated Replacement System (STARS), and the Wide Area Augmentation System ( WAAS). In addition, applications like e-mail, Internet, payroll, and other administrative services are on the FTI Mission Support Network. FTI provides an enterprise-wide approach to information security assurance. It meets the latest government standards for information security, and offers improved security services, like encryption.The FTI Mission Support network is a private Internet Protocol (IP) network that provides connectivity to approximately 1000 locations. The FTI Mission Support network has two levels of service - a premium level with 3-hour restoration and a standard level with next business day restoration. Large core sites are implemented with premium level service and the majority of the sites (> 90%) are implemented with the standard level of service. The FTI contractor also provides security tokens for virtual private network (VPN) access to the Mission Support network to more than 15,000 FAA employees and support contractors.

Technical Professional with LTS I worked as a route tech for LTS who contracted with 360 networks and Quest communications. My job was the support and troubleshooting of these two routes as well as the support of fiber regen equipment for Time Warner telecom, Comcast networks and Nortel. I also provided on call 24 7 support to these companies. I also acted as a first responder to fiber cuts for emergency restoration services to our customers.

 Maintained existing circuits DS1 DS3 and Optical circuits of all types; Installed T1 lines and CSU/DSU channel banks for customers.  Installed local CLEC equipment for this company in Bell CO's; examples are DSLAMs, Lucent Remote terminals for local dial tone, and Cisco fiber muxes;  Was on call on a bi weekly basis 24/7 for emergencies and circuit troubleshooting and repair;

 Was responsible for new turn up of DSL for NTS communications in the Amarillo area;  Trained other technicians in troubleshooting and repair and new turn up of DSL loops; Installed network appliances such a IP routers, DSL modems, dial tone and Ethernet networks;

 Installed new PC's and software for the Amarillo campus staff , trained staff in proper use of e-mail clients and printing as well as troubleshooting of network issues and PC and peripheral devices;  rebuilt PC's from the case up installed correct drivers and software for support of the Texas Tech university proprietary software as well as MS office suites. And trained staff and doctors on proper use. Installed Norstar Meridian phone systems and voice mail systems and trained staff / doctors on use. Also did call routing and, Dial plans for different departments and work groups.
