Served as senior web developer for a small, agile Drupal-focused technology team. Managed internal infrastructure (including significant unix command-line system administration); investigated, adopted and deployed new development technologies. Projects included complete implementation of OG-based Drupal site with over 200,000 group nodes; maintenance and tuning of a large, heavily-trafficked Drupal site that includes a complex editorial workflow and Varnish caching system; secured, maintained and improved a features-based heavily trafficked non-profit website; implemented a coverflow-style photo catalog sales application; implementation of an OG-based intranet application including LDAP integration for a US government agency; maintenance and upkeep of over fifty legacy web hosting accounts. Other duties included developing ROMs and LOEs for incoming projects and proposals.

Co-managed all aspects of the deployment of a complex web-based knowledge management and program review tool built using the Drupal content management system for the Office of Naval Research. Directed small development team during phased application upgrade process. Initiated implementation of the plan for the acquisition of Authority to Operate (ATO) for the application on a non-classified military network through compliance with all relevant DISA STIGs. Planned and executed migration of the application core from Drupal 6 to 7 and from LAMP to WISP stack in support of ATO acquisition.

Provided strategic consulting services and software development for clients including World Wildlife Fund, U.S. House of Representatives Democratic Caucus, and the Service Employees International Union.

Technology Team Lead. Oversaw a team of 5 developers and directed work on a multi-platform database for an Embassy. Work included: requirements analysis in conjunction with multiple project stakeholders; selection of open source technologies; design, coding and implementation of custom code; management of testing and quality assurance processes; management and integration of client feedback within the development cycle.

Worked as part of a team of strategic communications consultants specializing in the Drupal open-source content management system. Handled contract matters and managed outside counsel during corporate reorganization. Oversaw several large-scale content migrations from a wide range of legacy systems. Designed and implemented a scalable automatic metadata generation system using DBPedia data sets. Planned and implemented cross-platform database synchronization toolkit. Built extensions to Drupal’s static caching mechanism. Clients included the World Bank, the World Resources Institute, The Small Enterprise Education and Promotion (SEEP) Network and Green Media Toolshed.

Oversaw all aspects of the new media division of a presidential campaign: developed new media and outreach strategies; hired staff; vetted and selected systems vendors; oversaw website development and integration with fundraising and CRM tools; managed content generation and editorial processes; developed and implemented several path-breaking internet communications methodologies for presidential campaigns.

Developed and executed an on-line strategic vision for the office of Senator Dodd including a Golden Mouse award winning website reimplementation, podcasting, blog outreach and modernization of constituent electronic communications. Installed the first public-facing open-source software content management system in the Senate. Working with the Rules Committee Staff Counsel, led effort to modernize Senate internet regulations.

Managed all technical operations for internet-focused 501(c)(4) and PAC that raised over $1 million in funds through small-dollar grass-roots donations. Worked with partners, co-directors and volunteers to develop innovative campaign strategies and transform them into functional and effective on-line political tools.
