De Lijn is the Flemish part of the Belgian public transportation. Being househeld under the department exploitation, I am responsable for the entity West-Vlaanderen, covering all infrastructural matters to enhance or maintain bus/tram's commercial speed. Next to that I take - in strong coördination with the Flemish government - initiatives where possible to create buslanes, etc... in order to attract more people to public transport, rather than to take their car.

Recently taken over by NYK Lines as a daughter under the name of ICO, this company is the largest distribution centre of new cars in Europe, as well as an import and transhipment company. Customers are big Ro-Ro companies such as UECC, NYK, Kline, MOL, etc… As an Operation Officer we function as an intermediary between management and the operations on the berth. We prepare vessel operations thoroughly: preparation discharge/loading, ordering gangs, management of the parking/terminal,… We are the eyes and ears of the management and manage the operations in close co-operation with the Foremen / Tallymen. After the vessel operation we contribute to an efficient cost/income analysis and payment towards the customer. It is our duty and responsibility to detect and solve problems in time. Every vessel operation is evaluated not only to optimize berth productivity but also to increase the quality of the operations. A good knowledge of social behaviour/cooperation and a correct communication towards your target is of great importance. We carry great responsibility and must take the right decisions in close cooperation with both Terminal Manager and customers.

Sofinco is a company that manages different rubber and palm oil plantations in West-Africa and South-East-Asia. As a junior coordinator we had to take care of administrative duties andwriting papers, doing research on different subjects important for the future of the company… We have daily contact with the different plantations to run the management smooth and efficiently. I had to visit one plantation in Liberia for one month in order to map all social and demographic aspects of this plantation. The primary language in this company is French.
