Supervised and trained 4 career fire officers and 6 part time fire inspectors assigned to the Code Enforcement Division. Moderated the Post-Incident Analysis for the December 2010 multi-alarm fire in Frostburg, MD that claimed the lives of two college students. Developed the “Fee for Inspection” program. Successfully lobbied the County Council to support a Fee Resolution, allowing DFRS to collect fees for inspections. Revenue generated through the inspection program helps offset inspector salaries. Assisted with the development of the Assisted Living Fire Safety Education Program in partnership with the Howard County Office of Aging. This program is delivered to all new and existing Assisted Living operators as a pre-requisite for their license renewal. Developed and implemented a Record Management System (RMS) for occupancies and inspections. Represent the Fire Chief at State Legislative Committee meetings. Testify before Maryland legislators on proposed bills affecting the fire service. Conduct plan reviews of proposed buildings and represent DFRS in the County Plans Review Committee. Liaison with the Fire Protection Engineer concerning Life Safety issues with current plans. Provide additional investigative support to the Fire Investigation Division on large incidents.

Office of the Fire Marshal (May 2010 January 2011) Supervised 20 personnel assigned to the Community Risk Reduction and Fire Investigation Divisions. Proposed and managed a $1.3MM budget for the bureau. Developed the bureau's FY2011 goals and objectives as they relate to Code Enforcement, Public Education, and Fire Investigation. Served as Plans Section Chief and Situation Unit Leader for the multi-jurisdictional Baltimore Region Incident Response Team. Also served as Float Captain, B shift (2006-2007). Rotated stations based on Captain's leave schedules. Assumed the duties of the Battalion Chief in their absence.
