Before pursuing a career in creative technology Tim trained in Music, Circus, Dance and Theatre and spent some of his early career working in Metalwork, Pottery & Ceramics and Woodwork. Tim studied Devised Theatre with Digital Arts Practices at Dartington College of Arts. This wealth of experience has provided an excellent backbone to his creative journey.Tim founded digital arts collective The Media Workshop in 2002.Between 2001 & 2011 Tim spent 10 years lecturing in Digital Arts, Performance Technology, Events Management, Film making, Post-production and Fine Art at Dartington College of Arts, The University of Plymouth and Falmouth University. He also spent 2 years teaching A-Level Media Studies. Tim has been working professionally in the arts since 1999, creating events, developing productions, producing installations and crafting stage works. He has brought a wealth of experience and a deep understanding of performance technology to bear in many successful and impressive collaborations. These include numerous touring theatre shows, circus & dance, projection mapped shows, festival performances and interactive installations. As a technical producer and consultant Tim has supported many artists in realising their technical ambitions, working through R&D, problem solving, planning, technical specifications & sourcing, build, content production, programming and installation.He has supported many artists from big established names through to emerging newcomers. Some of the artists he has produced work for include Ryoji Ikeda, Miguel Chevalier, Javier Riera and Brian Eno.He works as a regular technical/creative producer for a number of festivals, events, artists and theatre companies. Much of Tim’s work has been in film & video and he has shot, directed and edited work for various platforms including; TV adverts, documentaries, product videos, sports brand content, music videos, new car promos, eLearning and corporate content. He has directed multi-camera shoots for TED talks, circus performances, contemporary dance, theatre and for a number of comedians.Tim loves the technical and artistic intricacies of working as a DoP. He is deeply passionate about lighting for film and has built up quite a collection of lighting equipment, old and new. He enjoys the compositional aspects of building a great film edit or creating captivating motion-graphics, 3D content and animation. Having a musical approach to post-production is a great asset in the edit suite. Tim plays the Cello, Bass guitar, Ukulele and the Didge and once worked as a clown 🙂
