Timea Honț is a freelance journalist working with the Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project as well as several Romanian outlets. In the past years she has studied and worked in countries all over the world, among which Germany, China, Mexico and, most recently, Colombia.Her recent work focused on investigative documentaries, covering transnational organized crime in Latin America and the Ukrainian refugee crisis in Romania. She is the recipient of several awards for The Riviera Maya Gang series, including two Eppy Awards and a Superscrieri award for best investigation and documentary.Previously, Timea was a reporter and community manager for the Casa Jurnalistului platform, the first crowdfunded fellowship for independent journalists in Romania. During this time she held a Superscrieri Fellowship on domestic violence, wrote about Roma communities, and worked as a PR for Sundance Film Festival winner “Acasă, My Home”. Besides her journalistic work, Timea is coordinating several cultural projects for the Carturesti Foundation, among which a yearly festival that promotes sustainable urban development and art in public spaces (Street Delivery).
