Technical And Digital Services Reprographics OperatorBezier Group - Poole Aug 2008 - Feb 2013Poole - DorsetBezier was a large point of sale (POS) group with many high profile clients in the retail sector, I was employed as a pre press - reprographical - studio operator. This involved using my extensive Adobe Creative Suite and design software skills so to make supplied work from design agencies' and clients' print ready.My main objectives in this role was to maintain production schedule and output proofs then plates to deadlines. The use of reprographical workflows and problem solving was a big part of this. Occasionally I would be asked to setup and artwork various projects and also create cutter forms for POS displays and packaging so that designers could setup designs to the said cutters.When needed I would operate an Xerox iGen 3 digital printing press - later upgraded to an iGen 4 digital printing press - I was trained on this by Xerox. There was also a backup machine an Xerox 6060 later upgraded to an Xerox 700 - again I was trained by Xerox in the use of these machines. I would also prepare data for files and send the files to the Digital presses and prepare them ready for print.Along with proofreading clients' work at the proof stage I would also run a Fuji Film CTP (platesetter) to run out plates and maintain quality control throughout this process, ensuring no errors would get through the net.Photographic retouching and colour correction was done in photoshop by myself at request for certain advertising campaigns. Colour calibration was maintained throughout this role at various stages, we conformed to ISO standards 09001 and 14001 as part of our roles and accurate records were kept at each stage of production to adhere to this - I played my part as a positive member of the studio team.

Graphic Designer - ArtworkerElumin8 Ltd (Sister Company To Sps Group) Aug 2007 - Jun 2008PooleElumin8 was a cutting edge company which dealt in electroluminescent technologies (EL for short), they were looking for an art-worker/designer to join their expanding team. My role was to create innovative animations from a 2 dimensional image, trying to bring that 2d image to life to give customers ideas for their posters. I also created the "lamps" which was basically various layers of ink which interact with each other when electricity is put through them. These lamps went behind posters for advertising campaigns - from 6 sheet posters to 48/96 sheet billboard campaigns all using the EL technology with animated light within it to promote their goods. I created these lamps within Illustrator, and also used Photoshop - both of these applications were used quite intensely along with any other applications in order to achieve my objectives. Once the lamps were ready and checked I then output screenprint ready film for printing with. I also ran the studio in the absence of the studio manager. Unfortunately elumin8 ceased trading in June 2008. -
Pre Press OperatorBroglia Press Jan 2000 - Jan 2007Broglia Press – Feb 2000 – Jan 2007Job Title – Mac/Systems OperatorRole 1 – March 2004 – Jan 2007 - Mac/Systems/Press AssistantDue to redundancies within the reprographics department and myself being a production minded person I adapted my role within the company - I performed a dual role working on a 4 colour Heidleberg 102 press as a Number 2 printer. If any problems occurred with plates on the presses then I would identify and correct the problem and run new plates. This dual role was performed on a night shift basis. This role kept the presses running rather than having to pull a job off the press when there were problems.Role 2 – May 2001 – March 2004 - Night Shift Repro ManagerPrior to the above dual role, I ran the Pre-Press department on a night shift basis, I was in-charge of 1 other person. I processed clients jobs through the system and would run plates and proofs accordingly. If any problems occurred in the press room then I was available to help.
