Patient Access Representative - Team Lead
CurrentIn this role I have worked my way up to a supervisor. I started as a patient access representative. I was responsible for checking in and checking out patients. Scheduling, reminder calls, consents for new patient appointments, answering calls, triaging messages to nursing teams. I was then promoted to referral coordinator for primary care. In the role I was responsible sending out patient referrals to specialist offices, setting up appointment for imaging such as MRI’s, ultrasounds, CT scans, and mammograms. I would need to get prior authorizations approved for imaging. After 1 year of being a referral coordinator I was asked to come back to the front end a supervisor, Team Lead to assist my supervisor with running the front end. In this position I was introduced to Management. I learned how to run a team of receptionists to provide great customer service for our patients. I learned to how to delegate tasks, review providers schedules for errors and corrections, addressing patient concerns, and monitor work flows to improve the quality for patient services. I am also responsible for training new employees on policies and procedures, how to navigate through our medical software, for scheduling, messages, triages, checking in and out patients, creating charts, addressing urgent concerns, Meeting with nursing teams regarding changes in patient care, work flows at the front end, and addressing patient concerns. I provide mentoring, support, and assistance with understanding workflows and adjusting them when needed.
