Head Of Winter Resilience (Airside) - London Heathrow AirportBaa Aug 2011 - Sep 2012Hounslow, England, GbFollowing the experiences of December 2010 and the closure of the airport for 4 days, my position was established to manage all aspects of countering winter conditions and snow and ice at the airport. As a result, I led a £32M winter resilience contingency programme to prepare and ensure the continuous aircraft operations at London Heathrow Airport during winter. I successfully rewrote, reformatted and instigated the airport snow plan within an extremely short period to facilitate efficient snow operations. In preparation for winter operations, I ensured the provision, integration and training of airside personnel and the introduction of a new snow vehicle fleet. My efforts and team led to Heathrow Airports best reaction to snow in a decade, ensuring the airport stayed open during the winter 2011/12. From the lessons identified that season, I fully prepared the strategy, plans, training and resources for winter 2012/13. -
Logistics Operations Director - Tactical Supply Wing RafMod May 2009 - Jul 2011I delivered world-wide operational refuelling support to the MOD’s fleet of 400 helicopters, in a minimum of 5 concurrent overseas locations, including those in Afghanistan, and within the UK. In parallel, I provide future strategy for the development of the unit and its capabilities. The post requires the management of a £12M operating budget and the leadership of large team of cross-function specialists. A independent unit, fully self supporting, with internal logistic, engineering, administration and training functions, all of which I reviewed, leaned, optimised and improved during my tenure, leading to considerable budgetary savings.

This included the management and leadership of 239 personnel, their career progression and personal welfare. Whilst in post I optimised the organisational structure, introduced lean practices and managed the outsourced provision of aircraft stock control and maintenance support to Westlands. Within 8 months of arrival I deployed to Kuwait/Iraq as the lead supply chain planner for the helicopter force deployed to support the invasion. As a result, I was instrumental in the design and integration of the helicopter supply chain into the wider Defence logistics network to deliver assured support.
