I am a (senior) research fellow at the Centre of expertise 'Budget and financial well-being' (Thomas More College) and at the Herman Deleeck Centre for Social Policy, University of Antwerp. My area of expertise is related to poverty and social policy, as well as inequality and climate change. I also teach several hours a week in secondary education on planetary boundaries, system Earth, inequality and the need an preconditions of a just transition.I am former editor-in-chief of the European Journal of Social Security. Previously, I was Senior Research Officer at the Institute for New Economic Thinking at the Oxford Martin School and the Department of Social Policy and Intervention (University of Oxford). As a volunteer, I am a member of the board of directors of a local community-based centre for health care in Antwerp, member of the city of Antwerp's Climate council and facilitator of a reading group on a just transition at the cooperative 'De Groene Waterman'.For a complete overview of my research activities, see my personal webpage at: http://timgoedeme.com

Consortium Project Manager - Improve (Fp7 Project)Herman Deleeck Centre For Social Policy (University Of Antwerp) Apr 2012 - May 2016AntwerpAs a co-coordinator I was responsible for the daily coordination & management of the FP7 funded ImPRovE project (2012-2016). In ImPRovE ("Poverty Reduction in Europe: Social policy and innovation") we studied how social cohesion can be achieved in Europe and how social innovation can complement & reinforce macro-level social policies (and vice versa). Some of the core outputs of the project are: a study of the policy drivers of poverty during the past and some scenario's for the future using micro simulation techniques; the development of cross-nationally comparable reference budgets; the development of improved social inclusion and social policy indicators, especially with reference to the Europe 2020 targets. The ImPRovE Consortium consists of 9 research institutes from 7 countries: CSB (BE), OASeS (BE),ISER (UK), UTURKU (FI), LSE-CASE (UK), AUEB, (GR), RUW (AT), UNIURB (IT) & TARKI (HU).For more information, see http://improve-research.eu/.
