OwnerT&D Consulting Jun 1994 - Dec 1996After nearly 15 years of creating solutions for clients across the country for Digital Equipment Corporation, I decided to pursue my own clients. My firm, T&D Consulting, specialized in providing software consulting to clients in oil and gas companies as well as to medical and healthcare organizations. I traveled across the country to work directly with clients and gain a first-hand understanding of their needs and environment.I enjoyed the challenge of creating solutions for organizations of various sizes and with unique needs. In developing these responses to complex problems, I often had to account for personal as well as technical factors. This was especially the case for a large hospital that saw the departure of all but one staff member on its infrastructure team. I was tasked with ensuring the continued operation of the hospital’s software and processes while rebuilding the team. Within a few days, I had hired a new staff member, and by the end of my tenure, I had rebuilt the 15-member staff team and had overseen significant upgrades to their operations.The challenge of building my own consultancy proved to be enormously rewarding. I worked tirelessly to expand my areas of applied expertise in new areas of technology while delivering real-world solutions for my clients.

Product SupportDigital Equipment Corporation Jun 1980 - Jun 1994I joined the staff of Digital Equipment Corporation directly after graduation and found it to be an excellent match for my interests and skills. In this role, I enjoyed opportunities to extend my expertise in various technologies in ways that resolved problems in the field. When first-level support had not resulted in a solution, I would travel to client sites across the United States as a liaison between clients and product engineers as solutions were developed and implemented. I worked to reduce repair time and to mitigate the difficulty of the repairs by becoming an expert in the relevant products and developing training for field personnel. Similarly, when network technology such as Ethernet became more prevalent, I added that area of expertise to my skill set so that I could continue to support and train field personnel. Together, we served as the bridge between rapidly-expanding technologies and the urgent solutions that our clients needed.
