About Tim H.

Started out doing OS/2 and LAN Server support for IBM in 1994. Picked up Windows NT 3.5 / 95. Got involved in networking, mostly Cisco. Back in the day, nobody was around to secure all of this, so volunteered. Spent a lot of time on online forums both learning and helping others, picking up Top 10 Experts Exchange Contributor and subsequently Microsoft MVP for Security for 3 years. Worked for some big blue chip firms, made sure Y2K didn't break things. Then got into consulting, which was mostly about teaching firms not to do things others had got wrong in the past. Started getting into pen testing, worked for an anti-DDOS vendor thwarting attacks on online casinos; and then PCI DSS came along in 2006. Was one of Europe's first QSAs and had some fun times all over the world. Had kids, grew up a little myself; and founded 2|SEC Consulting in 2011. Going strong ever since, with an excellent team that are far better penetration testers and security consultants that I could ever have dreamed of being. Our strength isn't Artificial Intelligence or some newfangled technology, it's our people. Too many firms forget that; and am proud to lead a diverse team of great talent.
