As an Associate Law Professor at Oklahoma City University School of Law and a Registered Patent Attorney, I have nearly two decades of experience in intellectual property (IP) law, particularly patent law. I teach IP, Patent Law, Antitrust, Sports & Entertainment Law, Legislation & Regulation, Administrative Law, and courses on emerging technologies such as Blockchain, NFTs, Crypto, Web 3.0 & AI. I also conduct research and write scholarship on IP law and policy, served as Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of the Patent and Trademark Office Society - the country's oldest journal on IP law frequently cited by U.S. Supreme Court Justices - and have authored and directed award-winning fiction and films under my penname Timothy Tau.I was a Patent Examiner at the USPTO, where I examined patent applications in business methods, finance, banking, insurance, blockchain, NFTs and cryptography. Moreover, I worked on many PTAB Inter Partes Review (IPR) cases as a judicial law clerk detailee to the Hon. Jameson Lee, the most senior Administrative Patent Judge. Before the USPTO, I practiced as an IP prosecution & litigation attorney at several top Am Law 100 law firms, representing clients in complex patent infringement and invalidity disputes. I have also served as a judicial law clerk for federal judges in the U.S. District Courts for the EDTX, DNJ, NDCA and WDOK, gaining valuable insights into the judicial process and decision-making.My mission is to advance the knowledge and practice of IP law, especially patent law, and to contribute to the innovation and development of new technologies and industries. I am passionate about teaching and mentoring the next generation of lawyers, scholars, and leaders, and am always eager to learn from and collaborate with my peers and colleagues. I hold a JD from UC Law SF (formerly UC Hastings), an LLB from the University of London, an LLM from Berkeley Law (Law & Technology Certificate), an MS in Electrical Engineering from UCLA, and a BS in Electrical Engineering & Computer Science from UC Berkeley. I'm also pursuing a PhD in Interdisciplinary Engineering from Texas A&M University, a MS in Computer Science from Georgia Tech, and have taken courses in IP law from the George Washington University Law School. Finally, I'm a graduate (LV105) of the Emotional Intelligence Training program from ChoiceCenter Leadership University, completed all the Graduate Signature Trainings and coached LV211, LV214 (LP) & JW13.
