After a ~decade of experience scaling businesses in private equity, I co-founded 1440 – a facts-focused curated newsletter for the intellectually curious. What started as an email to 78 friends and family, 1440 is now one of the fastest-growing media brands in the US, helping 4,000,000+ subscribers learn about the world each day. With delivering knowledge without motives as our North Star, we have attracted a dedicated subscriber base that spans political parties, ages, genders, and geographies. Our lean and mean team has been the recipient of numerous accolades, including: -Inc. 5000’s 79th fastest-growing private company in America -1871’s Momentum Award, joining the ranks of companies such as Grubhub, Braintree, and Cameo -Crain's Fast50: #1 fastest-growing company hq'd in the Chicago-area, 2023 Publications such as WSJ, Rolling Stone, Cheddar, and Digiday come to me for thoughts on the state of the media business. Before 1440, I worked in the private equity industry at American Capital (~$20B AUM), where I pursued venture investments and leveraged buyout opportunities in technology-oriented companies, and provided operational and financial assistance while serving on the boards of numerous companies. In 2020, I co-founded Fifth Star, a philanthropic venture fund dedicated to providing "Friends & Family" capital to Black founders, empowering them to turn their entrepreneurial vision into reality. To date, Fifth Star has supported over 25 founders, catalyzing a wave of innovation and diversity within the startup ecosystem. When I’m not optimizing our unit economics or curating content for 1440, I enjoy spending time with my wife, Jennifer, in our hometown of Chicago. I always enjoy connecting and engaging in meaningful conversations – feel free to reach out.
